No. In the UK you can book directly with a chiropractor without needing a referral from your GP. Many people come to Zest Chiropractic having already tried other forms of care, while others come as their first port of call.
In many cases treatment can begin during the first visit. However, this depends on your condition and the findings of the consultation and examination.
Comfortable clothing is usually best, especially if it allows easy movement for the examination.
Your first visit typically lasts 70 minutes, allowing time for a full consultation, examination, and discussion of your treatment options.
Most patients find treatment comfortable and many feel relief early on in their care. You may experience a temporary increase in symptoms for a day or two afterwards — similar to how you might feel after exercise. I will always explain what I’m doing and check in with you throughout.
This varies from person to person and depends on many different things, such as how long you’ve had your condition, what your lifestyle is like as well as your general health status. At your initial consultation I will let you know the recommended course of care to help you reach your goals.
A new patient visit is £75. It includes a full assessment, a discussion of the findings and if appropriate your first treatment. Follow up visits are £50 if paid for separately.
